ARCH 403 - For Example - The Seminar
Fall 2018
Model Design and Making
Stemmed from a series of text / image-laden studies, this set of model designs explores the use of precedents and references in the making of architecture. Emerging architects including Office KGDVS, Go Hasegawa, and Valerio Olgiati are closely examined while their approaches to design are dissected to constitute an assortment of treatments which are subsequently applied to the model making process. In sum, the experiment presented here establishes the architecture discipline as an expedition of visit and revisit, where there is no completely new space neutral from any influences.
*The outcome of the studies is presented to the public as an exhibition held in winter 2018 at the Rice School of Architecture.
