Curated for Syracuse’s ARC 394 and titled “Atlas of Imaginary Affinities,” this exhibition consists of two parts. On the wall, black-and-white drawings are organized in constellations, for which varying proximities are introduced to establish visual affinities. On the shelves, color images are put into an array. The overall layout blurs the boundary between process and outcome, precedent and invention, reality and fiction, and finally, individual and shared visions. In the end, this exhibition investigates the efficacy of assemblage in cultivating relational knowledge, whose operational logic is quintessential to both human cognition and machine learning.
